Heather Ogburn
Founder and CEO

Heather is a highly passionate and driven individual who strives to make a difference in the world. She studied psychology at LSU and University of Houston. Heather is also recovery coach trained, ASK trained, a Member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and a Certified CPI Instructor. Through her own life journey in overcoming the depths of addiction, she has a personal understanding of the disease. After 16 years of battling the disease, almost losing her life and her freedom, Heather was given another chance in life so now she strives to give back by helping those who are still sick and suffering. She has been a dedicated force in the recovery community since 2011 and is extremely devoted to saving lives. Heather tells her story to encourage others and give them hope. “I am not what I have done, I am what I have overcome. Recovery is possible, life is beautiful, and it’s up to you to make a change.” She also enjoys practicing yoga, reading and researching, going on hikes, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Hugh Michael Ogburn, MD
Executive Medical Director

Dr. Hugh graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1973 and specializes in Nephrology. Dr. Ogburn is Board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. He is also affiliated with Angleton Danbury Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Hospital, Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital and Methodist Hospital. He did his residency and fellowship at Baylor College including the affiliated hospitals: Ben Taub, Methodist Hospital and VA. Dr. Ogburn has a passion for helping others and literally bringing them back to life. He has witnessed the miracle of recovery and how it brought healing to his own family. Dr. Ogburn enjoys spending time with his family and loves watching movies.

Felix Tijerina
Chief Operating Officer

New to the industry, Felix comes with over 12 years of executive operations, finance, and HR experience from multinational startups to multibillion dollar organizations. He brings his passion and enthusiasm for recovery and family education to Serenity. On his personal time, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, hunting, fishing and anything outdoors.

Annette Martinez, LCSW-S, LCDC, CEAP, SAP Qualified
Clinical Director

Annette has over twenty-five years of experience, in the addiction, EAP, and behavioral health field. She has worked in a variety of settings with a variety of populations including, medical staff, emergency responders, adolescents, homeless, criminal justice, and DOT safety sensitive employees. Annette volunteers as the clinical director for the Galveston County Fire Fighter’s Association, Critical Incident Stress Management Team, and has been a member since 1999. She adores her 2 girls and spending as much time with them as possible as well as walking on the beach, yoga, the ID channel, the kitties at SLR, and Mexican food!

Kristina Pederson, LCSW, LCDC, EMDR Trained
Program Coordinator

Kristina attended the University of Houston, obtaining her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her Masters in Social Work. She is also a LCDC and has been trained in EMDR for both trauma & addiction. Kristina has been a part of the recovery community for over a decade. Her personal struggles with addiction ignited in her a passion to help others. Kristina has a love for laughter and life and in her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family and loves offshore fishing.

Debbie Dittrich, RN
Director of Nursing

Debbie has been a nurse for 25+ years. She has a passion for people first and nursing second. Debbie loves seeing people become the person God intended them to be, and being able to facilitate that process in anyway she can. Her belief is that there is no other option except quality care.

Jayme Quick
Director of Admissions

Jayme is a graduate of The University of Houston Clear Lake. Her background includes working with adolescents in crisis. She is passionate about working with people. She is an avid runner that enjoys spending time with her family. She loves visiting tropical places and being near the water. In her spare time she can be found on a ball field cheering on her two amazing children!

Lisa Hickey
Recovery Coach Supervisor

Lisa is a person in long-term recovery and part of your direct care team. She is a Certified Peer Support Specialist and working toward her LCDC Licensure. Lisa and her team realize that entering treatment is one of the hardest and most rewarding decision a person will ever make. She and her team understand that the journey to recovery is a long and winding road and we enthusiastically share this journey to long-term recovery with you. Lisa’s core beliefs are that recovery is possible, believes each person deserves dignity and to know their own self-worth. Lisa actively advocates to end the shame and stigma within the Substance Use Disorders and Mental Health field. Lisa loves laughter, watching her son play baseball, musical theatre, the therapeutic value of the beach, Saturday night fire pit with friends and lazy Sunday’s in a hammock. Her newfound hobby is developing our comfort dog Beacon into a Dock Dog competitor.

Peter Maldonado
Director of Business Development
Peter stumbled into the field of substance use disorder by being a client of treatment centers, after a couple of attempts, Peter finally got sober at the age of 21. He entered the field professionally at first by volunteering at a detox center in Austin Texas. Since then Peter has grown to love building professional partnerships within the field, entering the business development position. Peter is also a father to a beautiful little girl and he also enjoys yoga and handstands.
Morgan Tijerina
Director of Marketing

Morgan is a dedicated marketing professional and in recovery. She came to the treatment industry with a background in marketing, advertising and event planning as well as a desire to be a resource for those who still suffer from the disease of addiction. After getting sober herself, she realized that there is no limit to what you can accomplish and having the opportunity to help others find that same strength and clarity is something she is truly grateful for. Morgan likes to relax by watching The Real Housewives and enjoying time with her growing family.

Michelle Wimberley, CPT, RYT
Activities Director

Michelle has an incredible passion for helping others discover and thrive in their recovery journey. She is a certified yoga instructor as well as a certified personal trainer, and she loves to motivate and encourage individuals to have fun and find comradery through physical fitness activities. A deep seeded passion of Michelle’s is her love for going on nature walks, collecting things that ‘speak’ to her and turning it into art. “My personal recovery journey is very eclectic and beautiful. For me, it’s all about seeking a spiritual connection with my higher power whom I choose to call God; and it is by staying true to this connection that I have experienced self-acceptance, love and a burning determination to thrive in all I do.”

Corey Schulz, Ordained Minister, LMT, SLC, BBT
Spiritual Director

Corey has been passionately training, equipping, and activating others in their spiritual callings and giftings since 2007. He has served as a minister since his ordination in 2012. He is also a licensed massage therapist and a Bio Sound Healing Therapy technician. Corey’s personal journey of recovery, as well as his years involved in ministry, have produced within him a lifelong passion for spiritual healing and transformation in those struggling with addiction. Corey—whose name means “God is Peace”—is also a racquetball enthusiast, patient fisherman, health food fanatic, prophetic visionary, and aspiring dream interpreter.

Chef Tim Robinson

Chef Tim graduated from the uber prestigious Culinary Institute of America in 1991 with A.O.S in culinary arts. He has been working in kitchens since 1985 and has cooked for dignitaries and celebrities such as President George HW Bush, Barbara Bush, Jerry Seinfeld, Henry Kissinger, Earl Campbell, Larry Bird, Joe Thiesman, Kelly McGillis and Lou Rawls just to name a few. He has 2 beautiful daughters, 7 cats and a 120 lb black lab named Blue. He is about to celebrate his 30th year or marriage with his wonderful wife this July and is a huge fan of classic film noir.
